18 month bull
The Appian Way South Devon stud began with the purchase of ten in calf purebred heifers from the Alice Springs stud in 1995 and in the following years purebred heifers from the Owairangi, Bilden and the ESK studs. Our present sire, Highlander 8th, was purchased from the Woodah stud, and our junior sire, Appian Way Adjudicator, was bred from an in calf heifer purchased from the ESK stud. We also have an AI program where semen is procured world wide from bulls in the top 1% of the breed.

The Appian Way South Devon stud is located at Ruatangata, northwest of Whangarei city, Northland, on easy rolling volcanic and clay soils. 15 registered polled females are calved annually. Bull and heifer calves are carried to 18 months and then offered for sale privately on farm. All progeny is performance recorded.

Our breeding objective is to produce naturally polled, structurally sound cattle with good length and thickness, easy calving with the excellent temperment of the south devon breed accompanied by supporting EBVs.
